According to Abakan Kyzyl Bishop Jonathan, the eparchy was already formed at that territory for the second time. It was founded in the 20s of XX century with a center in Minusinsk. Then Soviet government liquidated the eparchy. It was restored only in 1995 on appeals of believers, priests and representatives of power. Today the Chapel of Iberia's St. Virgin is being sanctified at the Voskresensky Cathedral in Kyzyl which is now being built.
