The first, double issue of the electronic scholarly journal “The New Research of Tuva” is now available at the www.tuva.asia site. In this issue, you can read articles by famous Russian scientists, Tuva scholars, there are interviews, overviews,, reportages, informational announcements, reviews and fragments of works of literature dedicated to Tuva.

To the readers’ attention are offered exclusive materials of this issue: interview with the director of TIGI, K. Bicheldey (about plans for further development of the institute), interview with the authoritative ethnomusicologist V. Suzukey ( about the discovery of the secret of Tuvan music, about the creative path of the scholar, and about problems of eurocentrism in Tuva), problematic material by the main editor of the issue “What can science change in Tuva, and how?” and others. Each of the subdivisions of the issue contains extremely interesting articles. Some are dedicated to Tuva, others contain new methodological approaches, useful for researching Tuva; some have already appeared in other publications, mostly printed journals which are difficult to obtain, while others have been prepared especially for our journal…. You can read the overview of this issue and introductions to the articles in the subdivision “About the Issue, Articles and Authors (from the editor)”.

The publications are accompanied by photographs of the authors, they have annotations and key words in Russian and English languages, and are available in two formats: ordinary Internet-pages and PDF-files, ordered and numbered throughout, starting with the title page. If you print the articles out in this manner, you will get a complete journal which shows full reference data (permanent internet address) of each article. The complete volume of this issue printed this way is 457 pages. For the cover design, we used a photograph of Lake Khadyn at sunset.

Registered users of the site can leave comments to the articles. The most useful responses will be forwarded to the authors of the articles. We suggest to the readers to make their own observations on the publication, which will be published in the following issues.

We continue to accept articles for the next issues of the journal, as well as for the other departments of the project. In the on-line format, the news-thread “Tuva.Asia” continues – news of Tuva research and for Tuva research, - you can read of new developments of Tuva research, socio-political information, announcements of competitions, conferences, etc. The department “Personalities” is gradually filling up, and collection of materials for the “Electronic Library” continues.

Observations and suggestions by the site readers can be sent by the way of the “Guest Book”.

The project is supported by Russian Humanitarian Science Foundation (Grant 09-03-1213v).
