On New Year’s Eve, around 40 people aged 17 to 70 years ascended to the top of Mount Dogee north of Kyzyl.

“20 minutes to twelve, we were already on the peak of the mountain, - says Maadyr-ool Khovalyg, one of the originators of this ascent. – The challenge to meet the “Year of Tourism” in field conditions received a response from enthusiasts from Tes-Khem, Shagonar, and Ak-Dovurak”.

The youngest of the group od mountain climbers turned out to be an 11th class student Said Oidup, and the oldest – Mikhail Dugaar-Syuryun.

After the start of the New Year, which the tourists met around a celebratory campfire with champagne, more than 300 salvoes of fireworks were fired.

The mountain climbers did not get to see the holiday illumination of Kyzyl. The view of the city was covered up by a curtain of snowfall.

The flags of Russia, Tuva, and the “United Russia” party were erected on the mountain. The ascent was also dedicated to the fact that Sergei Shoigu, hero of Russia and Minister of MCh.S of Russia, was elected as president of Russian Geographic Society, as was explained by one of the participants in the ascent of Mount Dogee, Vice-Premier Anatolii Damba-Khuurak.

The year 2010 has been designated as the “Year of Tourism” in Tuva.
