Front veteran Vera Bailak receives a certificate as No.1 sheep herder- thousanderThe legendary ambulance soldier of the cavalry squadron, veteran of great Patriotic War, mother-heroine, a head of a large farming co-operative, Vera Chuldumovna Bailak has become a sheep herder-thousander No.1.  She received the certificate on May 9 at the 5-Years of Soviet Tuva Stadium from the head of Tuva, Sholban Kara-ool. Vera Bailak expressed holiday greetings to everybody, and wished them - "Support one another, and together solve today's problems in Tuva. Everybody should have a part in the development of the republic. The flowering of our native country depends on that."

86-year-old Vera Chuldumovna is the founder of farming co-operative "Kharagan"; her love of work and organizational abilities became the foundation of one of the strongest farms in Dzun-Khemchik district. This year, with results of the lambing campaign, the numbers of just the small horned cattle, together with the new young, has exceeded one thousand heads. Beside sheep, she also breeds cows and horses. A tractor, assigned to her by the government by a  decision of premier of Tuva, Sholban Kara-ool, is a great help.

Remember that since 2011, Government of Tuva has allocated a number of social benefits and guarantees to livestock herders who have one thousand or more heads of cattle. Shepherds-thousanders have the right to free sanatorium-spa therapy, with free transportation to the location of recreation and back; beside that, their children have a preferred status in acceptance to higher education in farming specialties, and a chance for free schooling.

Today, more than 60 prominent livestock herders are registered in the "Club of the Thousanders" of the republic. They will receive special certificates.
