Sainkho Nanchylak – Tuvan singer with a mysterious “shamanic” voice. The technique of her singing is multifaceted – from throat singing of “khoomei” style to the lowest and highest vocal ranges. Sainkho unites tradition and avant-garde turns to ancient vocal techniques, to ethnic music of Siberia and the North, practices Tibetan double-voice, and at the same time uses the newest approaches to sound production, including free-jazz way of singing, bravely experiments with electronics,, combining contemporary digital technology with archaic instruments and approaches.

Namchylak has been called “the magic voice of Tuva”, and this astonishing and magnetic singing has been compared to the sounds of nature and music of the elements. Nature and urban culture become one – the continuity of time becomes obvious.
