Tuva authorities closed and quarantined all schools in the republic's capital as flu epidemic spread, sickening 25 percent of pupils in each class, duty Town Hall officer told Itar-Tass. Last week alone, medics in the region reported 265 new cases of flu and 1,400 cases of acute respiratory viral infection. The strain circulating in Kyzyl and rural areas was identified as A1H1. In the Bai-Taiginsky district, the flu epidemic sickened 48 percent of schoolchildren and 25 percent of teachers. Doctors urged medical personnel, shop assistants and cafe staff to wear gauze masks.
