After a two-day relative warming in the Tuva republic the frosts there again reached 42-44 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Classes have been totally or partially cancelled in schools of Kyzyl and five rural areas, a duty officer of the Kyzyl mayor’s office told Itar-Tass. According to specialists of the Tuva hydrometeorology centre, air temperatures dropping to 41-42 degrees Celsius below zero on Saturday were registered also in the territory of the Piy-Khem, Todzha, Ulug-Khem and Erzin districts the total population of which exceeds 60,000.
Forty-degree frosts have been brought to Tuva by an anticyclone that came from Mongolia on January 14 and kept until Wednesday. Only on Thursday and Friday the air temperature rise by several degrees was registered.
Thanks to the dry Tuva climate people there survive frosts easier than in regions with high humidity.
Meteorologists promised that the temperature will rise in the republic by Monday.
