One of the best known groups of Tuva, the children’s folklore ensemble “Oktay”, will perform at the Center of Russian Culture on Sunday, October 25.
“In the 20 years of the existence of the ensemble, this is actually our first “solo” performance, - says the founder and leader of the ensemble, Nadezhda Ponomareva. – We performed in various joint concerts. Or else we were “diluted” by other teams and performers. This program will be fully and completely “Oktay”.” This program will be introduced on the stage of the recently opened Center of Russian Culture. This concert, presented just before departure for Moscow, will also serve as a rehearsal for a crucial contest.
From November 1 to Nov. 6, the group will participate in the XV Anniversary International Contest “Roza vietrov 2009” (Wind Rose 2009). The results of this contest determine which of the best groups will represent Russia in festivals in various foreign countries, in Italy (Rimini, Sicily), Bulgaria, Finland (Helsinki), Czech Republic( Prague, Karlovy Vary), Poland (Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot), and France (Bordeaux).
“Oktay” won the right to participate in the Moscow finale with the victory at the Second All-Russia contest of Children’s and youths’ Creativity “Moskva-Kansk Tranzit” in the specialty “National song”, which took place in Kansk on March 13-16.
The trip will be financed from the Grant of the Chairman of the Government of Republic Tuva, which the ensemble won, augmented by the means supplied by the parents of the participants.
Remember that this is an anniversary season for “Oktay”. On January 14, 2010, the ensemble will celebrate 20 years of its existence!
