The children’s classical dance ensemble ‘Alantos’ (trained by Raisa Stal-Ool) has won first prize at the Gold Cup international championship and festival, which recently took place in Sochi. Over 500 young performers from all over Russia took part in the contest. It was staged in the concert hall of one the country’s best pension houses – Neva International. Besides dance ensembles, vocal and music groups also took part in the championship, and fashion shows were put on by designers. The main goal of the festival was to advertise Sochi, the country’s most important resort and the site of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
The members of the ensemble are now on their way home. Tomorrow they will already be in Kyzyl. ‘Alantos’ is the only children’s classical dance ensemble in Tuva and was established in 1993 as part of the Kyzyl Children’s Dance School by Raisa Stal-Ool, a graduate of the St. Petersburg University for Culture and the Arts.
The ensemble aims to preserve classical Tuvinian choreography and, according to Raisa Stal-Ool, to develop creative thinking, a rich imagination and an inner cultural framework in future generations, through the medium of the arts.
Its current success – the Gold Cup – is already the third such prestigeous trophy in the ensemble’s cabinet. ‘Alantos’ is also the multiple laureate of national and international championships, and was awarded the gold medal at the 2006 National Turkish Festival.
