Shagaa, the Lunar New Year will be welcomed in Tuva with the first rays of the sun on 21 February. The Administration of the Kamby-Lama of Tuva presented this date as a holiday to the Supreme Khural. The regular session of the Supreme Khural (parliament) of Republic Tyva approved the Supreme Khural Decree "Concerning the day of Shagaa observation in 2023".

Every archaeological finding is important because it reveals something interesting about the past life. But a recent finding from a burial site in the Russian republic of Tuva has stunned even the archaeologists, as they found an iPhone like object along with a skeleton. Researchers excavated the area known as 'The Russian Atlantis,' and discovered a woman skeleton dating back more than 2,000 years ago. But more than the skeletal bones, an iPhone-like object was found in the tomb which left the researchers in sweet surprise.

Archaeologists working in Tuva have discovered an undisturbed ancient kurgan—a tomb of a Scythian prince. The tomb appears to be both the oldest and largest of its kind ever recorded in southern Siberia, according to a press release from the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Gino Caspari, an Swiss archaeologist with Bern University, first identified an intriguing circular structure while studying high-resolution satellite imagery of Siberia's Uyuk River Valley and suspected it could be a kurgan, according to the press release.

Kongar-ool Ondar, a Tuvan throat singer credited with popularizing the centuries-old musical tradition of his homeland to Western audiences, has died after emergency surgery to treat a brain hemorrhage, friends said. He was 51.
Ondar died Thursday at a hospital in Kyzyl, the capital of Tuva, a Russian republic that borders Mongolia, said Sean Quirk, a longtime friend of the singer and manager of the Tuvan throat-singing ensemble Alash.

International archeological Kyzyl-Kuragino expedition this year will move from the vicinity of the Eerbek village to the Tsar valley in the Pii-Khem district of Tuva where large-scale excavations will take place on the route of the future railway Kyzyl-Kuragino. The work in the camp site is under way to make life of volunteers from different countries of the world interesting in the free from digging time. The camp is to open on June, 5. Volunteers will come to the site since June, 3. This year 1500 people applied for a place in the expedition. The contest was open for people around the world aged 18 to 26.
