The Main Archeological Finds Of The 21st Century Returned to Tuva

The collection of unique archeological finds, discovered in the summer of 2001 by a joint Russian-German expedition, headed by Konstantin Chugunov in the Valley of Tzars (Pii-Khem district, Tuva), after 5 years in the laboratories of the Ermitage, and after almost a year of being exhibited with great success in the museums of Germany, as part of the exhibition “Tombs of Scythian Kings’, finally returned to Tuva.

Unique Buddhist Sutras Found in Tuva Cave

altA unique collection of Buddhist sutras - prayers and religious statements of sages – has been found in one of the caves of the Tere-Khol Region of Tuva. It appears that in the years of persecution of religious figures some of them decided to hide the sutras further away from bellicose atheists.

HHT have finally arrived in Germany for two ground-breaking concerts

After several smaller appearances here, Huun Huur Tu have finally been invited to perform their art and let the spirits of Tuva stream through the audiences in two prestigious German concerts:

On July 16 they played in the St. Mary’s Church in Bad Segeberg within the world famous Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in a completely sold out concert before an enthusiastically applauding audience, and on July 31 they performed in the Verdo Concert Hall in Hitzacker at the banks of the river Elbe within the Musical Summer Days before a deeply touched and enthralled crowd of 750 older and younger people. The north German radio station NDR and several newspapers reported accordingly.

Bady-Dorzhu Ondar Grand-Prix Winner in Khoomey

alt25-year-old throat-singer Bady-Dorzhu, Alash ensemble musician, has been recognised the best khoomey-singer in the khoomey contest which took place in Tuva within the framework of the 5th International Khoomey Symposium. Over 100 singers and ensembles took place in it. Bady Dorzhu was presented with a car. Chirgilchin group was defined the best in ensemble contest. $1000 prize-money went to the group.

Tuva Preparing to Host Throat Singing Admirers from all over the World

Last preparations for the Fifth international Symposium “Khoomei – Cultural Phenomenon of the Peoples of Central Asia' are taking place in Tuva. The symposium from July 24-28 will be attended by performers of throat singing, scientists from Mongolia, Bashkortostan, Kyrgyzstan, Altai, Khakassia, Buryatia, Kalmykia, Yakutia, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Japan, USA, France, Holland, Austria, and Denmark. The symposium is being held by the Ministry of Culture and Informational Politics of the Republic of Tuva and the International Scientific Center “Khoomei” as a part of the Year of Khoomei.
The Symposium program includes: Scientific conference, international competition of Khoomei and overtone singing performers, master classes in all styles of Tuvan Khoomei, Exhibition and sale of Tuvan national instruments and crafts of Tuvan arts masters, display and sale of Tuvan national dress and designs of local fashion designers, sightseeing, organization of round-table discussions on the problems of Khoomei, ceremonial preparation of traditional Tuvan dishes, cultural programs.

Tuva Preparing for International Symposium on Khoomei

On July 25, in Kyzyl, will be the official opening of the Fifth International Symposium "Khoomei: Cultural Phenomenon of the Peoples of Central Asia". This is the key event of the Year of Khoomei in Tuva. The most intriguing part of the program of the symposium is the throat singers' competition. Together with Tuvan performers there will be throat singing participants from Mongolia, Bashkortostan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Altay, Khakassia, Buryatia, Kalmykia, Yakutia, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Japan, America, France, the Netherlands, Austria, and Denmark.

The Bear Spirit

Have you ever met a bear? That is fully possible. How about, perhaps, a bear spirit? Hardly. But the members of the shamanic society “Adyg Eeren” not just meet him on a daily basis, but often address him with questions and pleas for help. And not just this one spirit, but also many others. “Adyg Eeren” is one of the strongest shamanic societies in Tuva, and its chairman, Kara-ool Donchun-ool is one of the most powerful shamans.

Ustuu Khuree to Be rebuilt by the Method of Public-participation National Construction

The work on the rebuilding the unique monument of Buddhist architecture – the Upper Chadan khuree ( Ustuu-Khuree)- in the Dzun-Khemchik district will be started this summer. The questions of preparation for the early summer season, the attracting of wide public participation to the construction of the future re-established temple were evaluated in Moscow at the meeting of the chairman of the Protection Council Fund “Por-Bazhyn” , Sergei Shoigu, Chairman of the Government of Tuva Sholban Kara-ool, and Kamby-Lama of Tuva, Dmampel Lodoy.

Worldwide Last Chance to See the Monumental Scythian Exhibition in Hamburg, Germany

After showing this spectacular exhibition with 6,000 artifacts from burial mounds of the by-gone Scythian cultures from Tuva, Mongolia, Altaj, Kasachstan, the southern Ural region, Ukraine, Hungary and Poland in the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin, with several Tuvan representatives of politics and arts present at the opening, as TuvaOnline reported, and subsequently in the Kunsthalle in Munich, this third and last leg of the monumental exhibition takes place at the Museum fuer Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg – see www.mkg-hamburg.de with curator Dr. Frank Hildebrandt.

This Summer Tuva Receives Throat Singers from All Over the World

The international symposium "Khoomei: Cultural Phenomenon of the Peoples of Central Asia" will take place in Tuva July 25-27, reported "Tuva-Online" in the Ministry of Culture of the republic.  This is one of the biggest events of the Year of Khoomei declared in Tuva.  Already today in
the ministry people are talking about the enormous interest in the symposium, which scientists as well as khoomei-performers from around the world will take part in. The honored guests who will arrive in Kyzyl include representatives of UNESCO.
