Four people injured in fire in Kyzyl hostel

Photo by Vitaly ShaifullinFour people were injured in fire in a hostel in Kyzyl, Tuva Republic, in central Russia, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry told Itar-Tass on Saturday. “According to preliminary estimates, four people – two men and two women – were injured,” the source said. The fire broke out at a two-storey wooden hostel of a construction plant at 20:00 local time (12:00 GMT). Fire fighting units are working on the site, but fire is still not put out.

According to preliminary information, 84 people were registered in the hostel. All of them have been evacuated. The exact number of hostel tenants is being clarified.

Good thing noone got killed, fires are dangerous.

It depends on what you mean by "hostel"? In this article this word seems to be misused. This is not a student hostel as you might have understood it. This is a dormitory for factory workers that became a municipal one. People live there with their families in quite poor conditions. Often these buildings are badly heated and people use self-made electric heaters and that usually leads to fire.

As to student hostels that are mentioned (if I understand your quiestion right) like ones in ISIC booklets, as far as I know, there is no one in Kyzyl. Someone might correct me if there is.

But if you are going to go to Tuva and are looking for an affordable place to stay, I should note that Tuvans are very hospitable people so I think it wouldn't make you a problem to find a family to stay in.
