Today a khoomei-competition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of famous Tuvan khoomeizhi Maxim Dakpai, takes place in the Iyme village, Sut-Khol district. The village is a birthplace of many renowned singers. Out of 16 people's khoomeizhi of Tuva three come from Iyme. Young Bady-Dorzhu Ondar and Choduraa Tumat were also born in Iyme. Maxim Dakpai presented Tuvan khoomei to the world public at large in 1957. He performed at the World Youth Festival in Moscow and the public was charmed with the khoomei sounds.
Maxim Dakpai's name is included posthumously into the Golden Book of the best Tuvans in the XXth century issued in 2004.
