Excavations of an entire chain of royal burials in the Valley of Kings (Pii-Khem district, Tuva), are being conducted by archeologists of Tuvan expedition under the leadership of Candidate of historical sciences Vladimir Semyonov.
1.5 kilometers from the settlement Arzhaan, the archeologists are finishing up the excavation of an elite kurgan, with preliminary dating of 6th century before our era. “This is a kurgan of Uyuk culture. Very few of them have been excavated so far, - explains Vladimir Semyonov. – It is a burial of a chief. I would not use the word “king”. We can speak of chiefs, but not kings. It was a chiefdom.”

Khoomei sounded in a camp on the shores of Khemchik river, in the light of a camp fire. The legendary throat singer, on a par with Vladimir Vysotski in the world anthology of musical arts, was accompanied by two famous ensembles – “Huun-Huur-Tu” and “Chirgilchin”, whose international tour schedules are booked for years in advance.

“I don’t know what’s the matter with people: they don’t learn by understanding, they learn by some other way—by rote or something,” physicist Richard Feynman once said. “Their knowledge is so fragile!”
Maybe Feynman’s brain was big enough to simply “learn by understanding”—sucking in and comprehending complex realities in a single glance. But what I think he actually meant was that people should learn by
exploringand
investigating, rather than just memorizing. Only then would their knowledge be useful and durable.
