 Chylgychy Ondar, Tuvan deputy in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, has celebrated his 50th anniversary. Specially for this event he came to Tuva. Actor by profession, Ondar is more famous as a playwrite. He also translated into Tuvan some of the works by Shakespear, Alexandr Tvardovski, Konstantin Simonov. Born in the Dzun-Khemchik district to a shepherd's family he was given the name of Chylgychy, translated as a herdsman. In 1973 together with some other talented Tuvans he was selected into a Tuvan studio at the Schukin theatre school in Moscow. Ondar was a vice-minister of culture, when a sexual scandal with his chief Anatoli Seren has happened and thus he unexpectedly to all became a minister of culture. In 2001 he, supported by the Tuvan Government, beat by 2 per cent his runner-up Sergei Mongush, minister of interior affairs, supported by the 'Edinstvo' party, in the strive for the State Duma mandate. Mongush team spoke of the alexistrative resource engaged to win the votes for Chylgychy, specially in the far-off places of Tuva, but after the election results were declared officially he quit his efforts to prove the truth. In 2004 Ondar was reelected a deputy winning a communist candidate Ivan Chuchev, head of the one out of the two collective farms left in Tuva. Chuchev was supported by the majority of Kyzyl residents but completely lost in the rural Tuva.Today at the gathering in the Drama theatre Ondar was presented with a number of gifts among which were a horsewhip given by his theatre school-mates with the wish not to use often and a rifle decorated with diamond's crumbs by Andrei Borisov, minister of culture and spiritual development of the Saha Republic of Yakutia. Chylgychy Ondar in his turn presented Tuvan libraries with his new book issued on the eve of the event.
