One of the first post-perestroika news-papers - Centre of Asia - today celebrated its 15th anniversary. The event which coinceded with the release of the 3d volume of the book 'People in the Centre of Asia' gathered in the Drama theatre readers of the news-paper, city authorities, deputies, members of the government, protagonists of the new book. Nadezhda Antufieva, who has been running the news-paper for all these years was the hostess of the event. 15 years ago 'Centre of Asia' founded by the first democratic Kyzyl council was the only democratic news-paper in Tuva. It revealed a lot of things which were a taboo for press in the old times, criticised party officials, helped ordinary people to fight against burocrats, injustice. With the time 'Centre of Asia' has changed and now evades keen subjects. There are many other democratically-oriented news-papers in Tuva. But Centre of Asia remains one of the most popular.
