In course of 4 days investigation 3 young people with the ages of, 21, 18, 19, have been detained under suspicion of having killed Elika Oorzhak, 22, and Eduard Nursat, 21, who were working in a slot-machine pavilion. The atrocious double murder case, which provoked a huge resonance in the Tuvan society, was taken under personal control by head of Tuvan militia Viktor Lesnyak. All three suspects are unemployed. Upon having murdered an operator and a guardian they emptied Elika's jacket pockets and took eighty rubles and her mobile phone. Elika had a two-year-old child. Eduard was a five-year-student and on that tragic night he agreed on the request of his relative (a guardian) to work for him in the pavilion. He was found by militia severely wounded and died later in a hospital.
It is worth mentioning it was not the first murder in a slot-machine hall in Tuva. In November 2005 a security guard was killed because he did not let a regular customer into the hall in Kyzyl. In spring 2006 six young men committed an armed attack of the slot-machine pavilion "Leon".
Tuvan legislators tried to push a law introducing a five-year moratorium on gambling in Tuva as gambling is traditionally alien to the Tuvan mentality. The bill was approved of by the Chamber of Representatives but was not signed into law by Prime-minister Sherig-ool Oorzhak.
