Artur Mongush, a Tuvan pilot who died in a helicopter crash in Kemerovo region, was buried in his hometown of Kyzyl. His funeral was organised by his former colleagues from the Tuvan Airlines detachment.
He was very happy a year ago to know that following his application for a job in a huge coal-mining enterprise 'Yuzh-Kuzbass-ugol' in the Kemerovo region, he was given a job with a stable and good income.

A complaint of $1.5 billion damage was sent to Anatoly Chubais, the president of Russian Joint-Stock Company "Unified Energy System of Russia", and directorate of Sayano-Shushensk Hydroelectric Power Plant by two of Tuvan districts: Ulug-Khem and Chaa-Khol, whose areas were flooded by the Shagonar water reservoir. This was announced by IA Tuva-Online with reference to Tuvaenergoinvest, which defends the two Tuvan municipalities.

Over 2,000 people have taken part in a rally against mass alexistrative pressure for favoritism of the 'United Russia' party in the coming parliamentary elections. Participants from Pii-Khem, Tandy, Kaa-Khem, Chedi-Khol, Erzin districts have come to Kyzyl to voice their concern about it. They carried slogans 'For equal rights of candidates in the elections', 'United Russia Coward', 'We are against splitting Tuvan society into yours and aliens'.

Tuvan weather this autumn has happened to be extraordinarily warm and mild as compared to heavy and frequent rains and low temperatures in summer. Today air temperature is expected to be +22 grade according to Celsium scale. An average temperature of +15 will stay in Tuva till mid-October, Kyzyl Meteo service forecasts.

In course of 4 days investigation 3 young people with the ages of, 21, 18, 19, have been detained under suspicion of having killed Elika Oorzhak, 22, and Eduard Nursat, 21, who were working in a slot-machine pavilion. The atrocious double murder case, which provoked a huge resonance in the Tuvan society, was taken under personal control by head of Tuvan militia Viktor Lesnyak.

The biggest-ever Buddist mantra, made out of huge stones painted white on a Lenin mountain in the vicinity of Kyzyl, has been sanctified. A ceremony was carried out by lamas of Gyudmed Tibetan monastery as well as Tuvan monks. Present were Kyzyl residents of different age, including enthusiasts who took part in the mantra construction works.

Within the framework of the 19th International Moscow Book Fair, which opened in Central Exhibition Centre (pavilion 57), a new book 'Tuva: Dictionary of Culture' was presented to public at large.
The idea of making such a dictionary came to Sergei Markus, Moscow journalist, who visited Ustuu-Khuree Festival in Chadan in 2003. He was backed by Academic Project Publishing House which applied for a federal donation to implement it.

Tuva was named among sixteen other Russian regions which could face an energy deficit this winter. In contrast to just three regions which had energy problems last winter a list now lists thirteen additional regions. This was announced yesterday by Anatoli Chubais, chief of Russian Joint-Stock Company "Unified Energy System of Russia". Tuva, with its 1.1% energy consumation growth during the first eight months is among these sixteen regions.

The Buddhist mantra "Om mani padme hum" has been made out of huge stones on a mountain , known as Lenin Mountain, near Kyzyl. The mantra took one month to build and is 120-metres-long, 20-metres-high It was laid and tied by locals with the help of the Gyudmed Tantric Monastery monks, who are on a visit toTuva.
It is done to hasten the visit of His Holiness Dalai Lama to the republic. One can have a picturesque view on Kyzyl, the capital of Tuva, from the top of this mountain. 500 kg of white paint was used to paint the stones.

A group of ten tourists from Omsk was held up and fired upon in the mountains of the Republic of Tuva, Itar-Tass learned on Sunday. The head of the group, Yuri Ryzhakov, is a lecturer for the Omsk Regional Center of Creative Development and Humanitarian Education, and gave his account to the paper.
