The Audit Chamber revealed financial irregularities of more than $1.5 m in
the activity of the Great Hural of Tuva after a checkup. The checkup also showed numerous violations of federal and regional laws.
It emerged that $403,000 with more than $345,000 transferred by the Legislative Chamber from the republican budget and $27,000 by the House of Representatives, including other funds not referred to the taxable incomes, were received via a settlement account of the management of OJSC Tuvakredit, a commercial bank.

Ten Tuvan children are on the way to Moscow. The good ten were chosen to represent Tuva among the quests of the most prestigous New Year performance in the Kremlin where children from all over Russia will be present. 'Tuvan quota' of 10 is insufficient, the Tuvan Ministry for Social Defense spokesperson confessed to Tuva-Online: "Every year we try to persuade federal authorities that almost half of the Tuva's population is children - 130,000 out of 300,000 residents - but they would not change the limit defined on the basis of the overall population number".

Chairman of the Tuvan Government Sherig-ool Oorzhak was awarded with the Order of the Polar Star, the highest award of Mongolia. Mongolia's Consul General Sumakhuu based in Tuva noted at the meeting with the head of the republic that the Mongolian government highly appreciated the contribution made by Oorzhak to the strengthening and the development of cooperation between their countries, the newslab.ru reported.

The first foster family appears in Kyzyl, the capital of the Republic of Tuva. The Khovalyg family have fostered three children: two boys and a girl from Kyzyl Children's Home, newslab.ru reported.
Mikhail and Marina Khovalyg have been working as teachers for their whole lives. They have already have two grown children.

In Russia, the unemployment shed from 6.8 percent to 6.1 percent during a year, but long-term unemployment widened to 40 percent at the same time, the Russian Statistics Service said in the report released on Friday. Even though the average chances for remaining unemployed are not very grand here, the problem is underestimated in some regions, the report signaled.

Four people died in a car accident 200 km to the south of Kyzyl on the road heading to the Mongolian frontier. Seven people were injured and taken to the hospital, where one of them died, Aleftina Dorzhu, spokesperson for the Emergency and Civil Defence Unit in Tuva reported to Tuva-Online. Tragic statistics of road accidents in Tuva is still on the rise, despite of the efforts undertaken by the Tuvan Government.

Nadya Antufieva, daughter of Tuva's famous journalist Nadezhda Antufieva, and currently Moscow State University student, won a third prize and 12000 ruble ($500) at a regional stage of the All-Russian contest "Social media challenge 21st century".
Young reporters from 12 Siberian regions participated in the first regional stage of the contest: the Republic of Buryatia, Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk and the Tyumen Regions, the Altai and the Krasnoyarsk Territories, and the Khanty-Mansi and the the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Areas.

The incidence of syphilis decreased 15% in Tuva over 9 months, 2006. Apart from six districts (kozhuuns), where syphilis incidence increased up to 68.2%, a decrease was registered in the rest of Tuvan area.
Moreover, gonorrhoea incidence lowered 16.4%, and scab – 18.8%.
A case of inborn syphilis was registered by doctors in Kyzyl, the capital of Tuvan Republic, Tuva Online news agency reports.
